Oakland (OAK) is sky-hy-phy

While the Bay Area’s Hyphy ‘movement’ is all but dead in the annals of mainstream culture, I gots to give enormous props to the Oakland airport for having an art exhibit that features scraper bikes and other elements of Hyphy Yay Area culture. I mean, it sure beats the shit they have in O’hare and Denver airport, like lame 8 year old paintings, dopey rocking chairs, or the Hasbro Mr. Potato Head case in Providence’s PVD. Oakland, coming correct. The video’s great too, with bonafide bragging for the Bay Area having the ‘bombest weed”. Get your ass to terminal 2, there’s more to OAK than Southwest flights to LAX.

The concept of “only in SF…” is certainly not my original idea, however, neither is it to the people whom I have heard commiserate about it…  That being said.

Two years ago I almost didn’t hire a kid who turned out to be one of the hardest working, sharpest, creative people I have ever worked with to date (the blog he “operates” can be found here) because he left off the last number of his phone number on his resume. I took that to be a gross oversight and character trait reveal to his lack of attention to detail.

Fast forward, and I’m now the laughing stock of a few recruiters and senior level ballers at some not-to-be-named companies.

In retaliation for acquiring brandongross.com early on, the wannabe brandon gross, based in Seattle swooped in on brandongross[at]gmail.com, prompting me to use my middle initial in my gmail account. I failed to publish my accurate address on my CV, now dude in Seattle is getting spammed. My email to the faux BG :

a sincere apology

Could I make this shit up?  I know this doesn’t qualify for engrish, but c’mon… literally on my corner outside the Urban Art Farm aka The Don’t Lab, in Portrero Hill (SF and B. Stein holler bizack!)

Nightmare on Mission and 22nd St

I really was conflicted in my voting whether to opt for more affordable housing in SF, knowing it would never affect me personally.  I mean, I just won’t be in SF by the time the projects funded by the prop get built.  Needless to say, finding decent housing in this city is a bitch, and this will kick off a series of solid CL posts from other SF’ers and around the world.  I “interviewed” with a house deep in the mission, apparently I made the cut… but something told me it wasn’t the right fit, besides I may have been offended or just scared shitless when my left the house dressed like this.
